Porto
Porto is a historic city in northern Portugal, located along the Douro River. It is known for its unique combination of tradition and modernity, with narrow cobblestone streets, colorful riverside houses, and iconic landmarks such as the Dom Luís I Bridge. The city is world-famous for Port wine, produced in the Douro Valley and aged in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. Porto also stands out for its rich cultural offering, excellent cuisine, and welcoming atmosphere, making it one of the most authentic and captivating destinations in Europe.

How to get to Porto


Airplane

Porto is easily accessible by air, with regular flights from several cities in Europe and South America, including low-cost airlines. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, located about 10 km north of the city center, offers direct connections as well as connecting flights through major European hubs such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt.


Train

Porto is the main railway hub in northern Portugal, with excellent national and international connections. The city is served by two main stations: São Bento Station, located in the city center, which mainly handles regional trains with connections to the north of the country (such as Braga, Viana do Castelo, and the Douro region), and Campanhã Station, which serves as the main hub for long-distance routes.
Campanhã Station receives trains from the south of the country, including Lisbon, with an average travel time of about 3 hours. This route is known for its scenic views. The station also provides international connections, facilitating access to Porto from other European cities.


Bus

Arriving in Porto by bus is a practical and affordable option, especially for those traveling from other Portuguese cities such as Lisbon. The city has well-located bus terminals, namely in the Campo 24 de Agosto area (main intermodal terminal) and at Casa da Música, both with easy access to the city center.
