GICCA 2027

WELCOME RECEPTION – 5th September

Discover the magnificent Palácio da Bolsa, one of the most iconic and visited landmarks in Northern Portugal. Its story began in 1832, after a great fire destroyed the former Convent of Saint Francis during the Siege of Porto. Years later, through the initiative of D. Maria II, a grand building was created on this site to symbolize the city’s commercial strength and prosperity.

Built over nearly 70 years, the Palácio da Bolsa impresses visitors with its architectural richness and harmonious blend of Neoclassical, Tuscan, and English Neo-Palladian styles. Each room reveals unique details, the result of the work of talented architects, artists, and craftsmen who transformed the building into a true masterpiece.

More than a former commercial center, the Palace is now a place filled with history, culture, and elegance. Walking through its luxurious halls and historic corridors offers visitors a journey into Porto’s past and the importance of Portuguese trade throughout the centuries.

With more than 300,000 visitors every year, this monument is a must-see destination for anyone wishing to experience the historical and cultural essence of Porto.

Attendance at the Welcome Reception is restricted to registered delegates only. While the ticket is included in the registration fee, prior registration is required.
